A new crystal clear synthetic 'shellac' varnish that can be used in the same way as a traditional shellac varnish with none of the yellowing over time.
Traditionally shellac varnish is often used to protect gilded surfaces from tarnishing and to seal seal surfaces prepared with gesso. However, a traditional shellac varnish tends to add a warm, yellow tint to a gilded surface that darkens over time. While often prized as a finish over gold leaf, adding to it's richness and warmth, the yellow tint alters the appearance of white gold and silver leaf undesirably.
Robersons Crystal 'Shellac' Varnish forms a clear, non-yellowing coat with superb clarity that will not discolour white gold and silver leaf while protecting any gilded surface from tarnishing. Crystal Clear Varnish dries quickly, it becomes touch dry within 15 minutes and will be ready to be recoated in around an hour!
